Nice to Meet You! I'm Zurab.
Hi! I’m Zurab, the person behind CreteTales.
I’ve been living on Crete for almost nine years now. Funny enough, I originally came here just for a holiday. But I fell in love with the island so much that I ended up staying.
And after all these years, I still can’t get enough of this place.
I love exploring Crete — discovering hidden beaches, wandering through little villages, driving along mountain roads, and finding quiet spots away from the crowds.
I’ve even turned my regular car into a little camper. Nothing fancy, but it gives me the freedom I love. I can head off whenever I feel like it, spend the night by the sea, go fishing, watch the sunset, or simply enjoy doing absolutely nothing.
Over the years, I’ve driven around Crete more times than I can count. I’ve learned a lot from local people, discovered plenty of places on my own, and explored some routes more than once.
At some point, I thought, why not share all of this with other people?
And that’s how CreteTales began.
Now, I’ll admit something: building a website turned out to be a lot harder than I expected! Sometimes something I think will take a couple of hours ends up taking several days. Things don’t always go according to plan, and there’s been plenty of learning, fixing, and starting over.
But I enjoy the challenge. And more importantly, I know why I’m doing it.
I want to help people discover more than just Crete’s famous beaches and tourist attractions. I want to share the island I’ve come to know and love — its character, its quieter corners, and those special places that don’t always make it into the usual travel guides.
I’m not going to pretend I know absolutely everything about Crete. But I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned from living here and exploring the island over the years.
I hope CreteTales helps you discover your own favourite side of Crete — the kind that makes you want to come back again and again.
Welcome to CreteTales!
