South Coast of Lasithi is defined more by atmosphere than by landmarks. There are no large historical complexes or organized entertainment zones. Activities are tied to sea, landscape, and small villages.
1. Explore Coastal Villages
Myrtos, Makry Gialos, and smaller settlements such as Koutsouras offer quiet evening walks and traditional tavern dining. The experience is simple: waterfront stroll, sunset, dinner.
This is not nightlife. It is repetition and rhythm.
2. Swim in Different Beach Conditions
Because beaches vary along the coast, one practical activity is exploring different swimming environments:
- Pebble village beaches (Myrtos)
- Family-friendly sand (Makry Gialos)
- Remote turquoise bays (Xerokampos)
Beach-hopping is one of the most realistic “activities” here.
3. Scenic Mountain Drives
The road between Makry Gialos and Xerokampos crosses mountain terrain with wide sea views. Driving itself becomes part of the experience.
These roads are narrow and curved, but paved and accessible with normal vehicles.
4. Visit Chrissi Island (from Ierapetra)
Boat excursions depart from Ierapetra to Chrissi Island during the season. The island offers white sand and shallow water.
This is one of the few structured day activities in the region.
5. Discover Small Inland Villages
Driving slightly inland reveals traditional mountain settlements with minimal tourism. These villages provide a contrast to the open coastline.
Short stops for coffee or lunch create a different rhythm than staying only by the sea.
